haldoor: the road is long, with many a winding turn (josh-never kissed)
I was gonna talk about this week and busy-ness, and whales beaching and so on, but I've just spent 4 hours catching up with my flist and now it's midnight and I really really must sleep. So. Next time, huh? Did tons of comments, and most are probably pointless, but hey, I'm like that (pointless, despite being an HB *laughs weirdly cos no-one will get that*)

All right, don't wait up. None of it matters. Although, come to think of it, I NEED more Warren Zevon (ref #2 below) and Jimmy Buffett (ref#1 below) in my life. In fact, I should get them on CD, right? Gotta love their seriously interesting and sometimes weird lyrics, right? If you agree, shout!

1. "He went to Paris, looking for answers to questions that bothered him so..."

2. "I'd like to go back to Paris someday and visit the Louvre Museum
Get a good running start and hurl myself at the wall"

Yes'm, Paris. Don't ask why, maybe it's the Tiger View I'm doing. Never been there, but maybe one day. But it probably "ain't that pretty at all".

Okay, if you understand any of that, you also are having a moment, obviously. It's after midnight now, what did you expect from me, really? Something that made sense? *laughs hysterically* (and it's Friday 13th... okay, so technically it's actually Sat 14th. But check out what's in the background! HA! Kevin Bacon bites it, royally!)
haldoor: the road is long, with many a winding turn (glasses)
It was lovely here - better weather than for a while - YAY! No hassles at all, in fact! How amazing is that? (Last year I visited A & E at lunchtime, thank God for no repeats!)

Christmas Day at my place )
haldoor: the road is long, with many a winding turn (Default)
...just started here, and I am ready for bed. Saw the GORGEOUSNESS of Christmas lights around the city here tonight - very very pretty. If any of my photos turn out, I'll try to post a nice one later on (probably next year by the time they're developed, it's not even a digital camera!)

Oh, six million presents to wrap, will be a marathon before bed tonight (well, as I haven't slept here yet, to me it's still technically tomorrow night). Midnight, I'm thinking, and no doubt the kids will be up at the crack... (on Xmas day)

Okay, best go to bed now to make the most of a pretty likely sleep-in since we didn't get home from looking at the lights til 10.30pm, and hopefully the kids won't be waking early!

If I don't get back here before the 25th:

MERRY CHRISTMAS

to everyone on my flist! Have the best day, and don't stress if you can avoid it! If you can't avoid it, have a few wines and eat too much chocolate! I know I'll be up for that if all else fails! ;-)

PS: saw Narnia yesterday - LOVED it! Gorgeous (word of the day), and well-crafted in my opinion. All the child actors were great, but it's true that the lad who played Peter was far too cute for my good! ;-P
haldoor: the road is long, with many a winding turn (alf)
Ok, since it's Friday, and dinner's nearly ready, I'm going for a quick good things list before I have to jump out of here!

1. Hardly worked at all, all week (which is good and bad all at once...)

2. Free shopping day Wednesday with the comps at work down for THREE hours! Ah, it's good when that happens just as you panic about Xmas shopping!

3. Sick day yesterday - felt better after the Panadol, and did some fun posting on the RPG with Coyote, James and Jackal.

4. Kindergarten rang this week (pre-school in NZ), and YAY! LF can start at the end of January when school goes back after the summer hols! Just what I wanted! (though my eyes teared up at the thought of my baby taking his first steps away from home!!!)

5. LJ gave us freebie-cheapsters THREE more icons for Christmas! YAYHOO! I went crazy... okay, so not very, now I have six though - double the fun!

6. Hubby's cooking dinner! and it's Friday!!!!

7. Found out today that my Aunt's going to be a Nana at long last! Excited for her! My cousin is pregnant, and due in June! Actually, it's the second person in as many days that I've heard is pregnant (the other's here somewhere *waggles eyebrows*) and both are due around the same time, how funny is that? Haven't had any pregnant friends or family for ages.

8. Choice of movies tonight: Matt Dillon (eyebrows, and those drop-dead gorgeous brown eyes *sigh*) in "Beautiful Girls" (I've not seen before) or Johnny Depp in "Dead Man" on dvd... could watch the dvd later, hmmm. Maybe both?

9. Bought myself a treat to sleep in the other day, sexy skimpy sleepwear, which I NEVER usually do. Must be the humidity getting to me! Hubby liked it too *grin*

10. Actually bought shoes this week!!!! Me, the one woman in the world who does NOT have a shoe fetish. I now have 9 (yes, count 'em) pairs of shoes to my name, including slippers, gumboots and jandals. I finally found some summer work sandals that are comfy, flat (not a heels girl) and best of all, cheap like me. *grins like a cheshire cat*

Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] kaige68 that I didn't get to the 'Jeremy is...' today, but maybe tomorrow?

Hope you enjoy the recipes, [livejournal.com profile] mrsbean, even though they're probably nothing terrifically spectacular! Let me know how they go!

YEEHA! Made it through another week!
haldoor: the road is long, with many a winding turn (sawyer)
Well. Done two jolly posts already from work today, so why am I doing a third from home, you ask? Well, must put a record of the work "do" in, and a couple of interesting TV watches over the weekend to mention. So don't go here if you aren't interested...

A couple of Kiwi photos (not great quality, but them's the breaks) under here too, if you're at all curious as to what excitement befits a Kiwi work do )
haldoor: the road is long, with many a winding turn (heath)
... so so freakin' tired, I can barely manouvre (who knows how you spell that right now, dunno why I was trying to be so damned ambitious) walk around the office. Yeah, I'm supposed to be working. So what? Yeah, I made a thingy... ummm... whatcha callit... (you make 'em on New Year's...) oh resolution, that's it! not to do LJ from work. SO WHAT? I'm too freakin' tired to work, so I'm pretending.

It turned out longer than I thought, so I stuck it under a cut to allow you to escape now, should you so wish. GO GO GO, I urge you! Do any of the topics even remotely go together, I wonder? *scratches head, then walks off, tired, unsure what was even being wondered*

More stuff about being tired, the EN RPG, pimples and movies )
haldoor: the road is long, with many a winding turn (karl-whitesuit)
1. The South Park Uncut movie is really funny. A lot of swearing, but really funny. Note to self: watch from the start next time.

2. "Saw" is a really icky movie. If you don't like icky movies, don't watch it.

3. There are compensations for kids being a pain and not settling til late when visiting people overnight. They are called "early nights" the night after you get home, and you get to do lots more computer stuff without interruption *grin*

4. Using a rubber glove designed for your left hand on your right hand (when the last right hand one has broken) when doing dishes just isn't the same, tho' it will do at a pinch.

5. Doing chores first before you get onto the computer is worth it. Then you don't have to rush around like a blue-assed fly six minutes before your husband walks in the door at 9.30pm to make sure the place looks like you do something other than sit on your ass in front of the computer.

6. And I even WORKED at work today too. *pokes tongue* Okay, so I e-mailed [livejournal.com profile] kaige68 first, but once that was done, I worked like a trouper. (or is it trooper?) Anyhow, it's set me up for the week. I shall (note use of "word of the day", Kaige and Kat) be a good little kitty this week and work hard, thus giving myself extra time to write good stories. So there!
haldoor: the road is long, with many a winding turn (Default)
Okay, since I had such a moany crap post yesterday, I'm going to do one quick fun one before I leave the computer for the weekend now. Just so you know I CAN BE HAPPY! ;-) I'm away now til Sunday (my time), so here's the run-down of good for this week:

1. Perving at Colin Firth in "Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason" on Sunday (and Hugh Grant has quite a nice neck actually, why hadn't I noticed that before?)

2. Perving at Hugh Jackman in "X-Men" on Monday (yay! Finally got the right movie!!!). Okay, so the hair and face-fuzz was dorky, but he's still yummy!

3. Perving at Oded Fehr in "Deuce Bigalow" on Tuesday (God you'd think I had nothing else to fill my nights except perving. Oh yeah, there's porn too, right?).

4. Early night on Tuesday (10.30pm - hey, for me, that is early).

5. LF laughing with me as we swung around the room today.

6. NOT going to work today because my eye was still sore. Instead spending a lot of quality time on the RPG and MSN *snigger*

7. Getting eye drops for my sore eye this afternoon at the Doc's (bliss).

8. Hubby cooking dinner tonight, after having returned 'bad' bag of chicken pieces and getting both money back and free bag of 'good' replacement chicken pieces.

9. Choosing the cutest present of a book and accompanying soft-toys for my niece's birthday present ("You're All My Favourites" by Sam McBratney) today.

10. The cat's okay after her car adventure yesterday. Seems a bit slow, but she is 10yo, so excused.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] kaige68, you can claim ALL of the above as your fault if you like. Will that make you feel better? BIKE LANE BITCH!

and, Kaige:

I'M SORRY I BLAMED YOU ALL OVER THE INTERNET!!! There. It's official, it wasn't your fault, honest!!! ;-)
haldoor: the road is long, with many a winding turn (don't touch)
...frustrating bastards! Okay, it's a complaint (the full half-hour, not the 5 minute job, either!).

AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Needed to get that out. Feel minutely better now.

You may or may not recall me having a rant a while back because I settled down to watch "El Mariachi" from "dvd unlimited", who ever-so-kindly post dvd's out to me (like the US Netflix thingy), only to find it was the director's commentary version... so I sent it back (well, did watch it, was quite interesting) so they could send me the ACTUAL movie for free (which they agreed to).

I wish to lodge a complaint )
haldoor: the road is long, with many a winding turn (johnny)
1. Watched "El Mariachi" on Friday. Or thought I was going to. Turns out dvd unlimited sent me a copy of the Director's commentary on how he made the film on $7000. WTF? Grrr! Complaint e-mail sent.

Actually, it was somewhat interesing in the end. Also reminded me of our wedding which we also did on $7000. Many similarities, including the "if you have more time than money, spend the time" type comment.

2. Watched "Tremors" last night. Only bought the dvd TWO months ago. Finally got around to watching it. HOT DAMN! Now I remember why I like it so much! Had me in stitches, 'specially the line: "I think I scared it." Also, much more slashy than I remembered! Ah, *sigh*. made up for the crap with "El Mariachi".

3. "The Village" is on Sky tonight. Will probably watch. Funnily enough, exactly one year ago yesterday this is exactly the movie we went to see at the cinema (I know this because I just found last year's diary, and as you do, I thought: "wonder what I did a year ago today?"). Good film anyway, I enjoyed, so worth a second look.
haldoor: the road is long, with many a winding turn (josh-pd)
Well, you know I circled South Auckland for 2 hours last Friday, if you read that entry, so I just thought I'd share with you how yesterday's road trip went - we went North this time, and it took 50mins to get there (as expected) and 50mins to get home too! Had a nice visit with my best friend's mother, who treats my kids like her grandchildren, and actually left before rush hour! Yeeha! See? I knew I couldn't have two road-trips to hell in a row. Home by 4pm, bliss!

The only one down thing was it was supposed to be Family Night and I totally forgot! Couldn't be bothered to go out again (N2D's food choice, which of course would be McDonald's), as too tired, so delayed it til tonight after many tears... now the dreaded "fetch dinner" time has arrived and it's blowing like nobody's business out there, and raining! REALLY REALLY don't want to go out... but a promise is a promise, so *sigh*, must brave it... I guess I shouldn't complain - we can do the drive-thru thing.

Let's look up, good things:

1. I don't have to cook
2. The kids will be happy
3. I will have time to read more slash later
4. LF's tired, will go to bed earlyish if I get my A into G
5. No good movies on tonight, will write another story

And, as an aside... watched "The Aviator" last night. Weird man, that Howard Hughes. There was a scene (with longer hair and beard) where I could just see Karl playing this part... I'm not a DiCaprio fan, generally, so it wasn't hard to switch them mentally! Anyway, quite a good movie, I suppose, considering it was not my choice (Hubby's). I could actually not believe that my darling man had NEVER heard of the Spruce Goose and I had... what's with that? He's the fan of cars and all other vehicles. I just like MEN!
haldoor: the road is long, with many a winding turn (Default)
Nearly missed Chapters 4 and 5 of In the Shadow of the Eagle - what was I thinking!?! I haven't been in LJ for days, too busy wrapping up the Austria thread in EN RPG every time I've been in lately. So finally checked both Chapters out today when I realised they were there, thank God!

Otherwise, not much else of note. We have just moved offices at work, so Monday I MUST remember to go to the new one, not the old one. Packed up yesterday (Fri) and it will all be there at the new place on Monday. I'm in two minds about it, actually. Has good and bad going for it. Good being new place, bigger, we have our own kitchen and loos (had to share with another bunch of people just as big as our group at the old place, and that always had a "them/us" feel about who messed up most). Bad being the parking's not as good, it's 5mins further away from home (neither here nor there I suppose), and the seating for us office-bound staff is crappily arranged. So, it remains to be seen whether it will be better or not.

I have a headache right now, have had all afternoon. Really should take something, as every little noise is bugging me. And I have to say "Don't Phunk With My Heart" is REALLY REALLY not the song you wish your 9yo would play when your head's near exploding *sticks out tongue*. I only haven't said something because I really don't have the energy, and it's keeping them off my back. But, it's time for bed now (for both N1D and N2D) so I'm about to push...

...as "Hidalgo" is on Sky in 10 mins, and I really must watch it...

Okay, that's my little rave for now. Off to ogle Viggo!
haldoor: the road is long, with many a winding turn (johnny)
... but I'm still alive. Computer was naughty this week, had to take it to Comp. Guy (CG) to be fixed. Took it Monday, didn't get it back til Thursday aft, so of course EN RPG went wild without me. Still haven't caught up on the reading, but at least I got Tiger to Austria. ;-)

Saw "Troy" again last weekend, so felt the need to post this pic I found somewhere in google, apologies to the source (which I now forget)! Looks good though, huh?

And if you have any interest in my other ups and downs, the rest of my crap is here )
haldoor: the road is long, with many a winding turn (skyblue1)
Excellent day so far. Since I've reached the age of "The Answer", I was hoping to have some, but so far can't come up with any, sorry! Perhaps I just can't get the Question right either... oh well!

The kids let me sleep in til 8.30, that in itself is about the best birthday present you could give a mother on a Sunday! Then a cuppa in bed, followed by my present, "Pirates of the Carribbean" on dvd (special 2disc set too!), and a bit later - an excellent brunch.

We went shopping and I found two nice summer shirts (not that I shall be wearing them for a while, but couldn't find anything for the current season that I liked). Would've liked some new pants or a skirt for work, but no such luck of course. Never mind, I like the shirts and they make me feel like winter will finish SOON!

I'm about to turn on POTC and have a drool session, so just as well it's suitable for kids! Let's just hope they're not as damn noisy as last time I tried to see it! Lots of yummy food to indulge in - coffee cake, afgan biscuits, chocolate, and licorice allsorts! Sounds good! Later, it's roast chicken, then orange choc-chip icecream for dessert, so it's all good!

Going to watch "Mystic River" on Sky tonight, so I won't be going into the RPG. Don't think Tiger will be missed yet, unless that Monday meeting gets too far ahead of me! I'll just make him "fashionably late" if so!

So, hope you all had, or are still having, good weekends! Catch up with you soon! Thanks to the Gods of Birthdays for making mine a good one (and the sun even shone, too!)! *Blows out far too many candles and falls over out of breath*

Movies over the weekend: 1/ "Shrek2" (v. funny! Love the "Far Far Away Idol" bit on the dvd, still laughing about the Big Bad Wolf & the 3 Little Pigs singing "Hungry Like the Wolf"....), 2/ "Lantana" (good Aussie movie with Anthony LaPaglia, very twisty and intertwined lives type of thing, with some mystery thrown in), 3/ "Mr Wonderful" (nice rom-com, a feel-good film, if you're into such things. For me, it was more about the lovely Matt Dillon, and his gorgeous eyebrows!)

Re-taped "Interview with the Vampire" off Sky too over the weekend, as I had a bad copy off regular TV with all the ads, and it got cut off. NEEDED to have a decent copy with no ads and no end cut-out! YES!

RL is pretty boring otherwise (Freakin' bloodygoddamnawful filing project at work today *yawns*), so I'm living in the movies, EN RPG and LJ for the most part. Although once again, I'm actually reading a novel (what?), which I hope to finish by the end of the week, if I can keep out of the slash for that long!

HO HUM!
