If you friend me, please comment if you'd like to be friended in return, as my standard practice is to only friend people I've exchanged a comment conversation of some sort with. If you're happy to friend and see very few of my posts, go for it, but I won't be friending you back unless we've chatted!

I don't actually bite, nor am I as standoffish as it might appear, but I'm probably a sandwich short of a picnic, in case this affects your interest in my journal. I also have the world's worst memory, but I always reply to comments if it seems called for. Feel free to poke around what little is visible.

Oh, and all my fics are housed at [livejournal.com profile] haldoor_honey because that's the way I roll. They are open to the public for the most part. Feedback and followers there are always welcome. I don't usually friend back there, but that's only because I don't follow the flist attached to it. ;-)

To all my American friends:

Hope you have a fun-filled Independence Day, and special wishes to anyone who has to work on the day. *hugs*

[livejournal.com profile] kaige68 and I were talking... as we do... and we're keen to write a million words this year!

Now obviously we cannot do this alone. I have decided my target for the year is 150K, so as she says, it leaves her with 850K. There's no way Kaige can get that far (she'd die trying though! ;-P), but for anyone who wants to join in, which includes motivating, cheerleading, betaing and all other writery things in order for a group of us to get to A MILLION WORDS in 2013, this is your chance to be involved! Any fandom, any writing you want to count; it's all on!

So come on over here and let us know you're in!

Good luck to all my East Coast USA/Canada friends experiencing the hurricane; I hope you are all safe and well. I'm sending massive calming vibes for it to be much less than they've predicted

Turkey Day

Have a great day and enjoy yourselves!

Hi everyone! It's Christmas Eve here and we're just about ready to race out to check out the Christmas Lights. There's a street near us where we can park the car and wander around the beautifully decorated houses along with all the other people gathered for the same thing. It's a wonderful feeling to be out there on Christmas Eve and we've made it part of our family tradition to do this today. I won't be online tomorrow, so I take this opportunity to wish all of you and your near and dear ones a very

christmas tree

to all of you who celebrate. And to those who don't, may I offer you my best wishes anyway!

Have a great Christmas and I'll see you on the other side, perhaps a little fuller and fatter, but definitely more relaxed once the bustle of it is all over. An extra-special hug to anyone who has to work over the holiday break! *kisses*

This time it's for [livejournal.com profile] therosewilde, who finally has a two in the age! Woo!

HAPPY HAPPY DAY!

Here's your present! )

...and quite clearly failing.

I would have had a really really good day, working really really hard if only four bloody dollars hadn't decided to get lost in the audit I'm doing at work. Damn, where could it have gone? I am so good at these things usually when I set my mind to them. Today, it's FARKEN lost and I can't find it.

In desperation and frustration, I am here, when I promised myself I wouldn't be. *sigh*

Other mysteries (points awarded for anyone who solves them):

1. Who is that in the pic in [livejournal.com profile] lostjane's latest post? (He's familiar, but I can't quite figure it out)

2. When will [livejournal.com profile] kaige68 be back online again at home? (I miss her dreadfully)

3. How many people read my posts but never comment on them? (cos I'm curious like that)

4. Will I fall asleep before I have to run around like a headless chook tonight after my daughters? (who have Brownies, Guides & gym between the two of them)

5. Why do whales beach themselves? (best imaginative answers get extra points)

Okay, I'm not posting any comments in anyone else's LJ right now because that way I can pretend say that I didn't really fail in my ambition to not enter LJ from work today...

Posting comments will occur later, after headless chook gets chooklets in bed. Hopefully. *sigh*

Or so it feels. (If you've ANY interest in pointless circles, read under the cut!) The first bit's bad enough...

I was tired to start with after last night, I have to say. Thought I was getting to bed early but didn't (12.30am), then woohoo, LF actually DIDN'T get into bed with Hubby and I (my side always) for a change this time, but...

4am: my cat's latest friend is HOWLING outside our bedroom window. Scare that one away, go back to sleep.

5am: Wilma (our cat) is threatening furball regurgitation on our bedroom floor. Hubby puts her out, we go back to sleep.

6am: LF arrives. Put him in front of TV (good parenting skills at work here *nods*), return to bed (the one morning I didn't have to get up at 5.45 for work this has to happen?), go back to sleep.

7am: LF returns. N1D and N2D can be heard in their room. Is there any point in trying to sleep longer? Not much. I doze a bit as LF destroys the bed.

Best bit:

8am: Hubby gets up and makes tea, brings it back to bed. Ah... then we get up to begin our exciting day on the motorways and roads of Auckland. Read on, MacDuff! (if you dare)

Travel broadens the mind. Apparently. )
