Prompts, please!
Dec. 30th, 2014 09:27 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I am behind on my target word count for the year and I am trying to get as many words counted tonight (my time) for
1_million_words' total target of 15 million for the year, so I need your help!
If you would like to help me, leave your prompts here! Please make them 1-3 word prompts only (whole sentences/ideas tend to bring on far more than drabbles, and this is all about short fic today!), and you may suggest a fandom and/or pairing if you know the kind of things I write and want a specific fill, but feel free to just leave it open and general if you don't mind, as that will make it easier for me.
Go, now! As many prompts as I can fill with drabbles on up to comment fic-size short pieces before I hit the hay tonight is my aim, although I am at work right now and may not actually start until later this afternoon. THANK YOU!

Illumination – Arrow (Oliver, PG, 200 words)
Date: 2014-12-30 06:02 am (UTC)This from the prompt: Watching the sunrise
Oliver sighed, lowering himself into a chair on the balcony, bone-weary after another night of fighting crime in Starling City. He could already see the morning limning the horizon in a palette of yellow and red. In his previous life he would have thought it beautiful. Right now, all he could think was how each night ended with the crushing reality of too much fighting and not enough sleep.
Did he have to go on; to meet each day with the hope that he was doing enough to change things and make the city a safer place?
As the sun burst forth from its nightly resting place, he sat up straighter, studying the play of light upon cloud and buildings. The illumination hit panes of glass on a nearby building, and just for a second there was a flash of green, almost in the shape of an arrow, whizzing across the sky.
Had he not been watching, he might have missed it. So brief and so insignificant in the larger portrait of the city by daybreak; yet it had been there, flaring just brightly enough to make a difference.
There was a reason for him to keep going after all.

Date: 2014-12-29 08:43 pm (UTC)Bedside Manner – H50 (Steve/Danny, PG-13 for suggestiveness, 383 words)
Date: 2014-12-30 06:27 am (UTC)"Hold still, Danny. I almost have it all."
"I don't know why you couldn't just get me to the ER. I'm sure they have orderlies with a better touch there."
"It's actually not that bad, Danny. The bottle was shattered into such small pieces that the lacerations are tiny. One more…"
Danny looked back over his shoulder, trying to hold his foot still as he watched Steve's tongue resting at the corner of his mouth while he frowned over the tweezers he was removing the glass fragments from the sole of Danny's bare foot with.
"Got it!"
"Jesus H. Christ!" Danny couldn't believe that this was causing as much pain as it was; it had to be Steve's indelicate touch.
"Stay where you are," Steve warned, discarding the tweezers with the glass and grabbing the cloth he'd laid to one side before starting to remove the pieces from where they'd ended up in Danny's foot. "This one was a little deeper and it's bleeding a little more than the others. Let me…"
"Fuck!" Danny nearly shot off the couch where he was lying face down. "What in hell?"
"Iodine, Danny. Got to sterilize it before I wrap it or you could end up with an infection."
"Warn a guy next time, huh?"
"Look, I'm done, now. You can sit up."
Danny rolled over carefully and surveyed the thick bandage on his left foot. "Wouldn't have happened if you hadn't insisted I go barefoot out there." He scowled at Steve, who was picking up the items from his First Aid kit.
"Hey, I didn't say run across the street; you never know what people have dropped around here."
"My phone was ringing!"
"I told you to bring it inside before we went out to the beach. Along with the beer."
"I could use the beer now."
Steve must have taken pity on him at last, as he lifted his lip in that lop-sided smile of his, fondness in his eyes as he stood up. "I'll get the beer. You rest there, and if it's still hurting once you've had one, I'll find another way to make you forget it."
"You better."
Steve just smiled and slipped out the door.
Maybe Steve wasn't so bad at this bedside manner stuff after all.

Date: 2014-12-29 08:55 pm (UTC)Chocolate Kiss – Arrow (Oliver/Felicity, PG-13 for kissing, 568 words)
Date: 2014-12-30 07:09 am (UTC)"Anything?" she asked him.
She watched Oliver shake his head as he answered. "Nothing. Are you sure this is the place?"
"The GPS signal is definitely near that building."
"Hang on." Oliver moved out of the range of the CCTV camera Felicity was seeing him on.
"Be careful," Felicity whispered.
She could hear his snort. "The mobile phone was in a garbage can. If he was here, he isn't any more."
Felicity let out a breath, turning towards her purse again. "Are you heading back here? We don't have anything else to try right now."
"On my way," Oliver murmured, and then the comm. was silent.
Felicity took off the headset and stood up. It would take Oliver at least fifteen minutes to return. Mind made up, Felicity opened her purse and pulled out the candy bar she had placed inside before leaving her office at Palmer Technologies. It was her favourite: a Milky Way.
By the time Oliver showed up, Felicity had finished the candy, disposed of the wrapper and reapplied her lipstick.
"We may as well call it a night, Felicity. When Diggle gets back tomorrow, he and I can go back to the warehouse where the weapons were found. Maybe we missed something. For now, everything's quiet, so we may as well get some rest."
Felicity moved closer to Oliver, smiling up at him as he replaced his bow in its holder. "I'm too keyed up to sleep. You want to grab something to eat?"
Oliver turned towards her, closer than she'd realized, and she held her breath, afraid to move away. No matter what each of them said, there was always an undercurrent – some kind of electricity – when they got this close.
He didn't move for a moment, and then Oliver was kissing her.
Felicity melted into the kiss, unable to do anything else as her hands found their way around his body. Oliver dragged her closer, opening up her mouth with his tongue like he was aiming to become part of her.
It was a long moment before they both pulled back, and Felicity stood there, staring at him with her mouth still partly open.
"I thought…" she got out with difficulty.
"Chocolate kiss." His voice was soft and she wasn't sure she heard right.
Shaking her head in confusion, Felicity blinked at Oliver. "I'm sorry, what?"
Oliver's lip curled slightly. "I shouldn't have done that. I'm sorry."
"No…" Felicity took a step forward, uncertainty filling her.
She could see the muscles tighten in Oliver's neck as he turned away. "I could smell chocolate when you stood next to me, and… it's the one thing I can't resist. A chocolate kiss… It won't happen again, I promise."
Felicity was just opening her mouth to protest that perhaps things weren't so impossible between them after all, when Oliver took off up the stairs, two steps at a time.
Felicity squinted at his back as he disappeared from view, and then spun on her heel, crossing the room to collect her purse on the way out. She was just thinking that should have known he wasn't about to change his mind, when something occurred to her.
"Did I just discover his Kryptonite?"

Losing Chess Graciously – BSG: TOS (Apollo/Starbuck, PG-13 for nudity & suggestiveness, 251 words)
Date: 2014-12-30 08:23 am (UTC)Starbuck chomped on the end of his cigar, gesturing with his free hand. "Get 'em off."
Apollo half-frowned. "I'm not sure about that last game."
"Whaddaya mean? I won, fair and square. Seventh time in a row. You lost; take off your pants."
"I begin to suspect the way you play," Apollo replied but he stood up, pushing his uniform pants slowly downward. The rest of his clothes had already been discarded as he'd lost successive games.
Starbuck blinked in innocence. "Who, me? Why, I am as honest as the day is long."
"Feldercarp, but I'll let you have it, this one time."
Apollo's pants had fallen to his ankles and Starbuck couldn't stop staring. His friend filled his uniform incredibly well, but he was even more incredible when he was naked.
Apollo snorted and clicked his fingers, finally getting Starbuck's attention. Embarrassed at his reaction to Apollo's extremely well-defined musculature, Starbuck felt his skin heating as he met his friend's eyes. He wrinkled his brow in uncertainty as he noted the unexpected expression on Apollo's face.
Then a movement further south had Starbuck's eyes dropping again. He opened his mouth to speak, stubbing his cigar out in the ashtray on the table beside him as he dragged his eyes reluctantly upward. "You let me win."
Apollo opened his arms in welcome, his smile growing. "Finally, you learn. I would never have agreed to this if there wasn't something in it for me."
Starbuck couldn't remove his own uniform fast enough.

Date: 2014-12-29 09:09 pm (UTC)Completely Crazy - Star Trek: AOS (Chekov/Sulu, NC-17 if you squint, 513 words)
Date: 2014-12-30 08:54 am (UTC)"Hikaru," Chekov whispered, throwing back the sheet and climbing out of bed. He wore only sleep-shorts due to the heat.
Moving acrosss to Sulu's bed, Chekov studied the sleeping form with a smile as he kneeled on the floor, bringing his face close to Sulu's ear. Sulu might look thin, but he had a runner's body – all hard lines and smooth skin in all the right places, and almost all of it was on display now, although he was hiding the best parts by lying on his stomach.
Chekov repeated his friend's name, his grin widening when Sulu flipped over and sat up, blinking awake rapidly.
"It's started to rain," Chekov told him, straightening up and heading to the balcony to open the glass door so they could appreciate the coolness the rain brought into the room.
Sulu followed him slowly, still naked, standing immediately behind Chekov's right shoulder. "It's beautiful."
They'd been on this world for almost two weeks, and in that time it hadn't rained once. The planet was lush, causing a limp sort of humidity that had all of them cranky and listless. Their hosts maintained the atmosphere changed completely when it rained, and that it would, very soon. Captain Kirk and his crew members were less than convinced, but now…
"Come on," Sulu murmured against Chekov's ear.
"What?" Chekov asked as he shivered in pleasure at the feeling.
"Have you ever danced in the rain?"
Chekov snorted softly. "Dance? In rain? Is insane."
Sulu held out a hand. "That's the point."
Chekov didn't understand, but he nodded, reaching to take Sulu's hand.
"Uh-uh." Sulu held up a finger. "Off with the shorts first."
Chekov's heart thumped in anticipation. "Why?"
"They don't need to get wet, and this is much more fun."
As Sulu moved into the falling rain and the dim light of the city reflected on his skin, Chekov began to smile. Sulu had made his point. Shucking his shorts, Chekov hurried to follow his friend onto the balcony, closing his eyes in delight as the soft droplets cooled his skin.
Opening them again slowly, he began to move, laughter bubbling up from his throat as Sulu danced around him, his fingers tracing the rivulets of water on Chekov's body from time to time. Chekov found himself dancing too, returning the gestures until both of them were breathless from the exertion, and close enough to kiss the water from each other's lips.
Sulu licked a droplet from the end of Chekov's nose and then kissed his mouth, dragging him by the hand back into the room and pushing him down onto the nearer of the two beds to continue the kiss.
"Crazy," Chekov whispered when Sulu pulled away far enough that he could speak.
"Yes, but it was worth it, wasn't it?"
"Completely," Chekov replied.
