If you friend me, please comment if you'd like to be friended in return, as my standard practice is to only friend people I've exchanged a comment conversation of some sort with. If you're happy to friend and see very few of my posts, go for it, but I won't be friending you back unless we've chatted!

I don't actually bite, nor am I as standoffish as it might appear, but I'm probably a sandwich short of a picnic, in case this affects your interest in my journal. I also have the world's worst memory, but I always reply to comments if it seems called for. Feel free to poke around what little is visible.

Oh, and all my fics are housed at [livejournal.com profile] haldoor_honey because that's the way I roll. They are open to the public for the most part. Feedback and followers there are always welcome. I don't usually friend back there, but that's only because I don't follow the flist attached to it. ;-)

Madness!

Since when did September become such a mad month? I have no idea but it's crazy! I can't keep up with anything at the moment: so behind on LJ and Twitter, don't really FB enough for it to count, and we're rushing around at home like crazy too. Our builder may be able to start in a couple of weeks, so we've been emptying the garage and I have a ton of things lying around to be sold that I'm attempting to organise. Work is also mad - we have an appraisal period ending when Sept. does, so everyone wants their work done yesterday, which means push, push, push, and no slacking off.

Phew. The tiny bit of sanity (?) in between the madness is writing fic with [livejournal.com profile] kaige68! My darlink, you raise me up! Yes, Kaige and I have been writing more H50 with Steve and Danny. It's completely mad too, but so much fun. I squeeze in a part when I can, and it all started here when Kaige wrote THE BEST EVER cargument. We're having so much fun, even though I'm having problems fitting my parts in. We'll get there though.

Oh, also managed to get to the movies last night as a reward for getting most of the rest of our stuff out of the garage and under the house (or into the basement as some people might say), which is half dirt and half concrete, so needed rearranging and some shelves organised so precious-ish items didn't have to sit on the dirt. Phew, all done now and not too cluttered, to my great surprise. I can even still access the wood for the fire and the hay for the pets, and the bikes are also easy to reach. Stunning. I do have a wonderful husband. ♥

The movie was 'Savages' ([livejournal.com profile] crickets, thank you for the rec!) and it was very good. Of course, I'd hoped for a little more man-on-man action, since it features two guys with one girlfriend, but that wasn't terribly forthcoming (although there were hints). However, it was still a good movie which the hubby and I both enjoyed very much. Great action, neat double-crossing, and some pretty awful happenings that made us think. Beautifully stylish too, and my girl-crush Salma Hayek was awesome. ;-) Update: just ordered the book from my library!

Now, onwards! Things to do and stuff. So sorry I won't be catching up on flist right now, *sigh* but I will try to get there soon! Love and laughter to you all! *hugs*

So very cute! I'd forgotten about this site. It's too hard to resist:

Several people have done this one lately and I've left a few words around (different ones as it happens), so here, try it out on me if you feel so inclined:

I'm running a test to see who's reading my posts. So, if you read this, leave me a one-word comment about your day that starts with the third letter of your LJ USERNAME. Only one word please. Then repost so I can leave a word for you. Don't just post a word and not copy - that's not as much fun.

This time of year does not inspire me to work. Damn it being Monday and cold and... yeah. Why is it wrong to want to stay in my cosy, warm bed with a hot water bottle 24/7? Next life? Possibly a bear, so I can hibernate, but frankly, being a loved kitty cat would be just fine; they get to sleep about 18 hours a day, AND they get fed. And we say we're intelligent! Ha!

Okay, so the cold brings sunshine. I should be grateful for that and I am, but.... *whines* anyway.

So many things *shakes fist at the universe*

Still, no time to go into it now. Just to say apologies to anyone waiting for Chapter 19 of 'Constant Daze'. I hope to have it up tomorrow instead.

A Meme -

The Rules:

1. People who have been tagged must write the answers on their blog and replace any question they dislike with a new, original question.

2. Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you. Who cares? Are the meme police gonna chase me if I refuse?

I run this silly bit of a comm. called [livejournal.com profile] t_h_e_hamster. Anyone remember it? Hmm, not likely, but there you have it. Anyway, I set it up ages ago to review movies, TV shows, books and music, but have been sadly neglectful of it. I keep thinking I should spend more time there and actually, you know, review stuff. I'm not what you call highly edumicated and I don't tend to make a lot of sense beyond the OMG!gaysquee thing a lot of the time, but I like movies, TV, books and music and I like to say: yes, I liked that or no I didn't. I also like recs from others, so...

I really want to think about posting there regularly and getting other odd-bods like myself to do it too. No major commitments or anything, and no indepth thinking required; just a place to pop up a few words of snything you think is worth mentioning.

So I made a poll over there for anyone to have a go at if you're the least bit interested. All very relaxed-like, so go have a look around if anything seems like your cup of tea, bearing in mind that I'm a slasher by nature and unlikely to spend much time noting anything non-slashy, which is not to say non-gayishness is not welcome. It just means if you are slanted that way, you may find it interesting in a mildly mild way, or you may not if you're not, so to speak.

Anyway. That is all. Have a lovely day!

When I got in the car to go to work this morning, 'Shambala' by Three Dog Night was on the radio. I had such a strong image from Lost as I pulled out of the driveway, and I didn't stop smiling all the way to work. God, I miss Lost, and scenes like that.

Do any of you have flashbacks like that when you hear a song from the Lost soundtrack? (Is there a soundtrack album or two? Because there really should be)

Have reduced my tags by about 20 or 30 (didn't actually count), so only about 9 million left to dig thru! Ha! And it's been fun reading old posts. Is it me or did I used to be more interesting? *sigh*

Oh, and this amused me no end:

I'm done at last. And that's my excuse for being up at this ungodly hour. What's yours?

And now to bed. Thank you and good night. ;-)

I really need to do a proper entry, but instead you're getting this meme thingy, snagged from [livejournal.com profile] gottalovev, cos it amused me:

Google the phrase "(Your name) looks like" and find the best ones from the first page of results. DONT FORGET TO PUT IT IN QUOTES, otherwise it won't work:

1. Hal looks like a big furry baby in a box.
2. Hal looks like the bad guy, and Nick steps in
3. Hal: Looks like hieroglyphics to me.
4. Hal. “Looks like Dave’s safety cord has malfunctioned. Goodbye Dave.”
5. Hal looks like a twit with his pluto hat
6. Hal looks like a cross between the editor of Granta and the guy across the Formica table who owns the Harley Davidson outside.
7. HAL, looks like someone is entertaining himself.
8. Hal looks like he wants to have a go at it.

Okay, I cheated, I did two pages, as some of the second page were funnier to my mind! And I used hal, cos I didn't expect haldoor to come up with anything (and it didn't). Didn't really feel like using my real first name, and this is kinda part of my surname, so...
haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (josh-oh hell no)
This is one of them, from Yahoo, advertising on e-m lately:

With free worldwide PC-to-PC calls, call friends near and far to talk on and on about the price of mangos or whatever.

All I could think about was Jack & Sawyer and 'playing' poker *waggles eyebrows*, or else that I really need to get this so I can keep in closer contact with [livejournal.com profile] nomango.

Okay, I'm weird, but I think you all knew that anyway.

In other news: Off to look at a house shortly. We've been thinking about selling and are casually looking around at the moment, but I doubt this house is 'the one' as there are already too many things wrong with it even from the advert, but we can't resist a nearby open home, especially when it has four bedrooms and the price is somewhat less than most of the others we've been dreaming about lately. The Hubby said the other night that if we can't have one, the ugly one I was looking at in the paper isn't nearly good enough to not have, we really should not have the $1mill plus one with the indoor/outdoor swimming pool that we were both lusting over a few weeks back! Oh, I have to agree - if you can't have something, make it a big something! *sigh* Dreams are free.

It's after midnight. Do I:

a/ Go to bed
b/ Do stupid quizzes for another half hour
c/ Edit Chapter 7 of the OF because I need to post tomorrow night and if I don't edit now I'll be fighting for time to do it tomorrow before posting.
d/ write something extra for the hell of it
or
e/ post pretty pics for Tight Places Week, which could take an hour at my speed.

Okay, any answers in the next ten minutes gratefully accepted.

Well, sleeping in would have been nice.

But -

Woken at 8.30 by kids getting presents ready: not so good!

Presents: very good! (CD, writing paper, craft things, purple singlet-top, chocolates!)

Breakfast: pikelets (mini-pancakes) with butter and golden syrup (liquid sugar)

Argument between N1D and N2D at the table: not so good.

Chores: not great, but essential, dammit.

Online time: Excellent!

Yahoo e-mail being a bastard: ASSHOLES! I can see my e-mail, but I cannot read it. How's that for wonderful? Anyone else experiencing such joy this weekend? I'm hoping it's just yahoo-au, and not the whole world as at least one other person told me their's is okay. I just hope it's not my damned computer playing up again... *sigh*

The rest of the day: bugger all, probably, as Hubby's cooking dinner (yay!) and it's too cold to care about doing lots. The kids have just put "The Triplets of Belleville" on again. If you've never watched this, you should! We watched it yesterday and it's a great little cartoon with virtually no speaking except in French occasionally. Some most amusing things, and it's very stylishly made. Suitable for the whole family (and you don't often get that recommendation here!)... if you don't mind a dancing woman with her tits out for about 2 minutes (and it is a cartoon).

Watched FOUR episodes of series one of SG-1 last night! It's all [livejournal.com profile] green_grrl's fault. But it is fun *grin*. Looks like I'm going to have to keep going. [livejournal.com profile] kaige68 keeps talking about S6...

Oh, and before I forget (mind you, I missed a lot more than I ever remember), yesterday was [livejournal.com profile] niceandfluffy's birthday! HAPPY (belated)BIRTHDAY, chook!

And no doubt have pissed off far too many people lately, but that's what happens, eh? I'd have more RL friends if I was nicer. But sarcasm must be carefully nurtured to be appreciated.

So I'm inflicting a ten things meme on you to annoy you all even more. Think I got it from Ellel, but I can't be sure. MOAG. Apologies. )
haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (pinky-house)
Due to unforseen circumstances, Pinky and I did not take over the world last night.

We didn't even manage to watch "The Brothers Grimm". Or do any of the other things in the poll *sigh*

However, normal service will be resumed shortly and taking over the world may be attempted again tonight... as per usual.

Thank you for your patience.

And I'd totally pick up this guy if I saw him hitch-hiking!
haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (Default)
How do people know what episode of Lost they're watching, and remember the titles six month later, anyway? Huh, huh, huh? Does everyone go to Lost-media.com each week before the episode to find out the name or what?

I can barely remember my own name some days (this is the famous MOAG, but even so...). I swear, they do not have titles on any episodes I've seen, nor numbers of episodes. So when I'm reading fic or entries whereby people say "spoilers through... blah blah blah" I have no idea whatsoever what they're talking about unless they say 3.11 or whatever. For the first time ever in my life I actually know a) what season of a series I'm watching (apart from the obvious first season of something) and b) what episode number I'm up to. Seriously. It's the first time it's actually mattered.

Oh, and actually what does "through" mean in that context? it's such an Americanism. I assume it means "all the way to the end of this episode I am naming" but I'm not 100% on that, it may only mean up to the beginning of the episode... any help?

None of this is intended as a criticism at all, I'm just genuinely confused! I'm a simple Kiwi lass who needs help understanding the American mysteries! (you'd never guess I actually lived there for five months once upon a time, would you?).

So, please help if anyone knows. I'll give you my first-born. No, I won't, her father would never forgive me! a fic of your choice if the answer makes sense!!! (and Heroes, just so we know I'm not missing anything, quite clearly says the chapter - ep# - and title of each episode at the beginning, so there!)

PS: another poll coming soon - I haven't forgotten the idea of reviewing the shows/movies/happenings around me, it's just on hold for a bit while I sort out the rest of Life's Questions. Dunno why I try though, we all know The Answer is 42.
