haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (1_mill_words-august rush)
I've been working hard all month on getting the pics up at the August Rush Challenge at [livejournal.com profile] 1_million_words, so I haven't been writing as much as I often do, but I managed five banners for the first two weeks of the challenge, and decided that I'd do another five that spoke to me for the second two weeks as well.

My first five (one for each fandom) are here if you want to see them and missed them earlier.

The second five - again, one for each fandom )
haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (1_mill_words-august rush)
yesterday, I wasn't feeling the words, but I had time to play around with some graphics, so these are what I came up with from the pics I'd chosen over the last couple of weeks at [livejournal.com profile] 1_million_words August Rush challenge.

Here be five banners - I've chosen one pic for each fandom from random days; just whatever appealed to me as something I could caption )

Okay, here's me trying to climb out of my depressed pit. Seriously, I've been meaning to share these guys with you for ages. So, finally, here we go:

Both [livejournal.com profile] halfdutch and [livejournal.com profile] janie_tangerine did this meme, and of course I can't resist anything musical!

Whether you watch the show for serious or not, if you read the fic, you need to take part in this:

Your favorite Hawaii Five-0 stories at the Ohana Favorite Awards!!

Go find your favourite stories and nominate them! ;-)
haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (h50-steve&danny)
I so couldn't resist. There's this site you can go to and make romance novel covers. I saw someone do it over at Starsky & Hutch fandom and of course I have millions of better things to be doing, but...

Steve and Danny were just asking for it )
haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (eric-pete-held together)
I couldn't resist this one... it's so up my alley! Nabbed from [livejournal.com profile] halfdutch although she had more modern ones that I couldn't guess for peanuts, being an old dinosaur-fart type myself! I haven't got anything much really new, cos I'm like that, but see how you get on! Answers forthcoming when guessing is complete!

Not sure if I should give some musical clues... these are probably far too easy for most of my flist though!

Guess these musical acts just from the pics )

[Edit] We now have all the answers! The winners were [livejournal.com profile] gregoria44, [livejournal.com profile] kitty_trio, [livejournal.com profile] bachlava, [livejournal.com profile] azdiva, [livejournal.com profile] mrs_sean_bean, [livejournal.com profile] lostjane and [livejournal.com profile] marius2045! Congratulations one and all! *hands out generous supplies of chocolate fish*

Thanks for playing, those who did!

Comments will be screened until we have answers!
haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (pinky-house)
Due to unforseen circumstances, Pinky and I did not take over the world last night.

We didn't even manage to watch "The Brothers Grimm". Or do any of the other things in the poll *sigh*

However, normal service will be resumed shortly and taking over the world may be attempted again tonight... as per usual.

Thank you for your patience.

And I'd totally pick up this guy if I saw him hitch-hiking!

I'm sorry the pizza keeps sitting on your flist page *grin*, so this one is just for you:

Dunno if you're a Hugh fan or not, but this is one of the few pretty pics I've got here at work. But it's got to be easier on the stomach than the pizza and fudge brownies, right? *grin*

Have a good day, babe, I hope your boy is all better soon enough!

(apologies to anyone who really doesn't want Hugh filling up their flist page!)
haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (johnny-dreamer)
...but didn't, as usual. Am going to give up making promises or saying "I'll be doing this" whenever, because I never seem to manage it. *kicks self*

So, in lieu of a long drawn out and distinct rave, I will just give you this, because it made me giggle:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

*kicks pic* doesn't seem to show up. Bastard thing. I right-clicked on it and was able to open, but dunno iif that's because it's my photobucket account or not. Huh.
haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (Default)
Well, it wasn't too bad, it can certainly be worse, but my mind does tend to waver after about 11.30... and I promise I did manage quite a bit of work before the mush set in!

There, that feels better already, right?

An example of how things go at my work on a GOOD Tuesday for a change: )
haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (josh-forsaken muse)
Well, it's LF's 4th birthday today - WOW! My big boy is four. And like every mother before me, I'm wondering how did that happen? It hardly seems that long ago when I was going into hospital to have him. Still remember it clear as day. Hard work (induced Fri morning, not born til Sat night), but worth it. And he's been hard work ever since! HA! Well, and worth it too, of course. Lovely sweet thing that he is. We're just doing family stuff today, and he's having a little party on Sunday afternoon. Mum's job? To make a "Lightning McQueen" cake. Oh boy, there's a challenge! (for Sunday. Today he's getting a plain round chocolate cake!).

Need to do this: One long cool drink of water on the rocks, please!

Because, in other news, )
haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (johnny-forgot)
Which explains a hell of a lot.

Won't be going to "POTC2" on Fri, no-one to mind LF (who I doubt will make it through that length of a live-action film, even if he did manage "Cars" last week, and is going to "Over the Hedge" with Hubby & the girls tomorrow). Maybe the weekend...

Anyway: "House" is on tonight, so here's RSL:

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] therosewilde:

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don't speak often) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me.

It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE.

When you're finished and feel like it, post this little paragraph on your LJ and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON'T ACTUALLY remember about you.

And this has nothing to do with anything, but...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Yeah, that feels better. Courtesy lost-tv.com.
haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (hard cheese)
So, starting form last week, let's think...

Well, before I do that, there's this (thanks for more of these fun things, Amy!):

Which poem are you?

Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll

Oh, you're silly! People probably think you're a bit kooky, but those nuts just don't realize that you've got a language all your own. But hey, you always bring a smile to people's faces.

QUICK!

haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (josh-crinkly)
Oh yeah, me quick, yeah.

Off to the Auckland War Memorial Museum on a school trip with N2D today, should be heaps of fun looking at yesteryear!

Oooh, it's bloody cold here too. Purple hands time of year, I'm afraid.

Will try to check in with the flist either later tonight or early tomorrow if I can. haven't looked much for a couple of days. Hope you're all doing okay!

Off to M-i-L's 70th b'day celebrations tomorrow afternoon (3 hours drive south), so won't be online again until Sunday eve my time, probably, after early tomorrow. Wish me luck and don't miss me too much!

*smooches to all*

Have this to think on, because Josh was looking DAMN HOT on LOST last night:

haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (Default)
Yes, just a quick one (really, truly).

I have two lassies from the UK coming to stay this weekend, so have to madly scramble to tidy up, change sheets and clean tomorrow; then collect them from the airport on sat, and show them the wondrous sights of Auckland over the next couple of days! Thus, I may not be around much. It should be fun though! It's only the second set of overseas visitors I've had since I've been back in NZ (since '92)! So many people did me great kindnesses when I travelled, so I'm just eager to pass the kindness on and have people stay here.

Will let you know how it goes next week!

Oh, and I haven't forgotten the Kiwi music, will aim for that next week if I can... although there will be much RPG reading to catch up on by then *sigh* No doubt complete madness will ensue!

*hugs* to my flist. Have a great weekend, everyone! Will just leave you with this, because it's the anniversary of Alexander the Great's death in 323 (and they played Alexander on Sky TV tonight! not that I was perving at the pretties or anything):

Oh, I just know everyone's going to be so thrilled to see the photos of my bathroom! Yeah!

This is what it used to look like:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Yes, that is two pictures together, {and the gorgeous (ha!) patterned wallpaper with the brown edging was my old laundry - it's already been done and is now marigold with white edging (FYI)} and the second pic is so you can see the old "box" shower. UnFortunately it's the only one I have of it.

And now for something completely different... )
haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (repressed)
Yes, yes, it's me. I am still alive, in case you wondered. God knows where I've been, fantasising about living in Karl's backyard perhaps. No, actually, I think it was Josh's pocket... oh what the...?

Yes, obviously the Magic Midnight button has been pressed. (only 108 minutes to go til I hit it again). Yeah, right.

HAPPY EASTER! well, it still makes me laugh, but then I'm weird, or so they say. This, I mean:

Image hosting by Photobucket

Okay, what did I need to tell you? *scratches head* )
haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (Default)
'Cause I've been wanting to do this one for ages. Maybe you'll like it, maybe it sucks. And it's better than whinging about how crappy I'm feeling. Kids aren't all well either, but blah blah blah.

Do this instead:

Make five (sort-of) outrageous claims. Three must be true, two are false. Let people guess which are which. Tag some friends if you want. I won't, because I don't do that. But c'mon flist, do it? Could be fun!

Here's mine: UPDATED WITH THE ANSWERS

1. I was dux (top student) of my Primary (elementary) School.

True. When I was 11 , I was so clever. Wonder what happened? *scratches head*

2. My father died four days before I turned 2, and my Granddad died on my 27th birthday.

True. My dad was a truck driver and fell out of the cab trying to close the door. He fell down a steep embankment & died. I now have a slight paranoia about car doors being open when the car is moving. My Granddad had an unexpected heart-attack and died suddenly when I was in England. Had I been in NZ, it was the day after my b'day.

3. I was in a movie with David Bowie.

False. But close to true - my brother was an extra in "Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence"

4. I was a high-jump champion in High School.

False. The only jumping I did, was to conclusions!!!

5. I met the Bee Gees and have photos and autographs to prove it.

True. In 1989, when I was in England, my friend bought me "One" (their latest album at the time) as an early b'day present, and free tickets to a "special concert" were part of the deal. She never believed it was real, or that it would be them, so I took my brother and his friend, and we got to see them perform live for the first time in 10 years, and be the audience in the video for "One" which they made that day. Also got the autographs, photos, and the free T-shirt! Woo! Biggest moment of my young life at that time!

And just because it's was Heath's birthday yesterday:
