I just heard that Glenn Frey died at the age of 67 from complications arising from rheumatoid arthritis, colitis and pneumonia.

As a huge Eagles fan I am saddened for yet another massive loss to the world of music. I was lucky enough to see the Eagles live in NZ in 1995, and while I missed them when they came here last year, I have been a lifelong fan and always will be.

My thoughts are with his family and friends. I leave the last words to Glenn, from the song his family posted as a tribute:

“It’s Your World Now”
Written by Glenn Frey and Jack Tempchin
From the Eagles’ Long Road Out of Eden album

A perfect day, the sun is sinkin’ low
As evening falls, the gentle breezes blow
The time we shared went by so fast
Just like a dream, we knew it couldn’t last
But I’d do it all again
If I could, somehow
But I must be leavin’ soon
It’s your world now
It’s your world now
My race is run
I’m moving on
Like the setting sun
No sad goodbyes
No tears allowed
You’ll be alright
It’s your world now
Even when we are apart
You’ll always be in my heart
When dark clouds appear in the sky
Remember true love never dies
But first a kiss, one glass of wine
Just one more dance while there’s still time
My one last wish: someday, you’ll see
How hard I tried and how much you meant to me
It’s your world now
Use well your time
Be part of something good
Leave something good behind
The curtain falls
I take my bow
That’s how it’s meant to be
It’s your world now
It’s your world now
It’s your world now

Love this

It's cool to see Peter Lenkov retweeting things like this on Twitter:

Love Don't Die from valleygirl07 on Vimeo.

Great Steve/Danny vid too! S4 clips as well as older stuff, and the song seems to suit it

Phew...

Talk about madness... just got rid of the last of the mess from having two separate sleepovers this weekend, am glad to say.

I know I haven't been around much this week, but it's not been for bad reasons, though some of what's under the cut may seem like madness!

Good and bad things; craziness too, I expect! Oh, and pimping Blue Rodeo like you wouldn't believe, and I'm not even Canadian! )

... but just gorgeous. Perfect song, beautifully made video.

Both [livejournal.com profile] halfdutch and [livejournal.com profile] janie_tangerine did this meme, and of course I can't resist anything musical!

Right now? Quit work, pay off the mortgage, and run away to Hawaii with my LJ friends for a few days! NOW NOW NOW. *hopes like hell*

Like movies? TV? Novels? Music? Can you answer yes to all of these? You can? Is that enough questions?

Well, then, I have something for you! Please go check out [livejournal.com profile] t_h_e_hamster. It's a very small comm I'm running whereby all the members offer their own opinion on various movies and TV shows they've seen, novels they've read and music they've enjoyed. It's small and friendly - it won't clog your flist - and no deadlines! Just post a review when you feel like you have something to share. And, of course, come and read otherwise! Pimp it out to your friends if you like; the more the merrier! It's very slash friendly, but all other reviews are welcome too. It's a place to find things of interest, share your own recs (other than fanfic) and to enjoy the company of like-minded flisters. Please check out the latest review by my good friend [livejournal.com profile] gregoria44 about the movie Labyrinth for a fine example.

Here's that comm name again:

I have a bunch of icons over there in the user pics if anyone wants one, but does anyone have the skills to do a banner we can use for it? I'd love you for life if you did us one! (or might be convinced to write you a ficlet). Thanks, my friends - you may now return to your scheduled viewing! *passes the popcorn*

When I got in the car to go to work this morning, 'Shambala' by Three Dog Night was on the radio. I had such a strong image from Lost as I pulled out of the driveway, and I didn't stop smiling all the way to work. God, I miss Lost, and scenes like that.

Do any of you have flashbacks like that when you hear a song from the Lost soundtrack? (Is there a soundtrack album or two? Because there really should be)

Was it you, [livejournal.com profile] ladywillin, who showed me a Paloma vid before? She truly is awesome! I think I'm hooked!

Does anyone have any of the following songs they could share with me (mp3, preferably) in the next 24 hours? Please, please, pretty please? Just upload and share the link in a comment here if you can help! I'd be ever so grateful! I'm trying to quickly make a travelling cd for my son before my family goes on a road trip on Monday, and these are some of his fave songs (I already have some others, so it won't be the end of the world if I can't get these, but LF would dearly love at least a few more!):

"Hey! Baby" by Bruce Channel, although any version would probably do since it's been well-covered.
"Raindrops" by BJ Thomas
"Black Horse & the Cherry Tree" by KT Tunstall
"Life is a Highway" by Rascall Flatts (although we'd accept the earlier version by Tom Cochrane too! {well, I would *grin*})
"These Small Hours" by Rob Thomas
"When the Stars Go Blue" by Bono and the Corrs
"Build Me Up, Buttercup" by the Foundations
"Absolutely Everybody" by Vanessa Amorosi
"Kung Fu Fighting" by Bus Stop (with Carl Douglas)
"Who Let the Dogs Out" by the Baha Men
"Keep on Movin' " by Five
"Mambo #5" by Bob the Builder!!!!

Thank you so much in advance to anyone who can provide us with any of these! you will deserve many many chocolate fish! *smooches*

I couldn't resist this one... it's so up my alley! Nabbed from [livejournal.com profile] halfdutch although she had more modern ones that I couldn't guess for peanuts, being an old dinosaur-fart type myself! I haven't got anything much really new, cos I'm like that, but see how you get on! Answers forthcoming when guessing is complete!

Not sure if I should give some musical clues... these are probably far too easy for most of my flist though!

Guess these musical acts just from the pics )

[Edit] We now have all the answers! The winners were [livejournal.com profile] gregoria44, [livejournal.com profile] kitty_trio, [livejournal.com profile] bachlava, [livejournal.com profile] azdiva, [livejournal.com profile] mrs_sean_bean, [livejournal.com profile] lostjane and [livejournal.com profile] marius2045! Congratulations one and all! *hands out generous supplies of chocolate fish*

Thanks for playing, those who did!

Comments will be screened until we have answers!

This means dinner will be late. Sorry kids.

But... this was nicked from [livejournal.com profile] elise_509. Thanks, it was fun, even if I wished the questions at the end were a little more varied. 'Twas obviously written by someone who likes BANDS (rather than MUSIC) for different reasons to me. I'd have liked more questions like "Does the lead singer's voice melt you in a puddle of goo in any song? Which one?" or something similar *snigger* but I did my best. Seriously, how does one remember 30 years ago? I can barely remember yesterday sometimes! (as most of you know!)

So, starting form last week, let's think...

Well, before I do that, there's this (thanks for more of these fun things, Amy!):

Which poem are you?

Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll

Oh, you're silly! People probably think you're a bit kooky, but those nuts just don't realize that you've got a language all your own. But hey, you always bring a smile to people's faces.

Write 6 things about yourself, then tag 6 people to do the same!

Umm, let's think... *scratches head*

1. I have almost 300 LPs, over 300 45's, 200+ cassettes, and about 70 Cd's (ha!). Real up to date. No ipod, or thingy like that, tho' I do have some music on my HD.

2. I cannot burn a cd that will actually play on my cd players. However, I can get one to play in my dvd player. No pictures though, damnit. No idea why.

3. I do NOT like Bruce Willis or Lauren Bacall, and Grace Jones sets my teeth on edge. Don't ask why, I do not know. have been known to run screaming from the room when GJ comes on the radio.

4. My favourite food is Bacon & Eggs. True. The egg is the world's most fantastic food.

5. I lost my virginity in Israel. HA! Needed to know that, didn't you? (Funnily enough, the guy was a Kiwi)

6. Brad Pitt. OK, that makes sense. What the hey, just Brad Pitt. Make of it what you will.

Okay, enough trivia to swing a stick at yet?

And I tag whoever the hell wants to play, because that's me. Or don't play, see if I care. *pokes tongue*

Hi guys, I know you probably thought I forgot, but here is the promised Kiwi music on the last day of NZ music month. I find I only have 5 Kiwi albums on CD, so we’re a bit limited (more on vinyl and cassette, oldie that I am!)

Yes, we have weird musicians like the above, our wondrous Split Enz! Sadly, the Enz have Split!

Check out the music! )

Yes, just a quick one (really, truly).

I have two lassies from the UK coming to stay this weekend, so have to madly scramble to tidy up, change sheets and clean tomorrow; then collect them from the airport on sat, and show them the wondrous sights of Auckland over the next couple of days! Thus, I may not be around much. It should be fun though! It's only the second set of overseas visitors I've had since I've been back in NZ (since '92)! So many people did me great kindnesses when I travelled, so I'm just eager to pass the kindness on and have people stay here.

Will let you know how it goes next week!

Oh, and I haven't forgotten the Kiwi music, will aim for that next week if I can... although there will be much RPG reading to catch up on by then *sigh* No doubt complete madness will ensue!

*hugs* to my flist. Have a great weekend, everyone! Will just leave you with this, because it's the anniversary of Alexander the Great's death in 323 (and they played Alexander on Sky TV tonight! not that I was perving at the pretties or anything):

This one is simple, a query:

It's NZ Music month here. Would anyone be in the least bit interested if I were to upload some of my favourite Kiwi songs?

1. Bought tiles for the bathroom yesterday! 25% discount too, woo!

2. The whole family swam at the wave pool and used their showers yesterday while the bathroom continues to be out of action!

3. Actually worked HARD today!

4. The shower is ready to be used! They finished it today!

5. Underfloor heating man came today and fitted that (so can't actually use the shower til tomorrow morn, but... everything else on schedule, so not complaining)

6. The tiler will (hopefully) be here tomorrow! (don't wanna jinx it by not adding "hopefully")

7. Watched "Monster's Ball" on Sat night with the Hubby - very good, even with the suicide bit (poor Heath!)

8. Tiger got to translocate on the EN RPG! WOO! SOOOOOO cool!

9. "Cab" by Train

10. Have the 14th to the 25th April off work!!!! Only three more days of work til I get a holiday now! Not actually going away, and the kids are off school, but hopefully we'll do some things, day outings etc, and get some STUFF TIDIED UP around here!

Yeah!

And that's it for today, bedtime now if I'm to WORK again at work tomorrow!

*big squishy hugs to my flist!*

I'm actually going to bed, so WTF I'm writing here for, I have no idea. Just thought I'd tell you I flagged the stupid $4 and fudged the audit. It just wasn't worth the effort for freakin' $4. And that's Kiwi$, not even Aussie$ (ie, worth half that in most other places). I mean??? The client won't know. It was in her favour, and the only issue will be if it gets audited, which it shouldn't as I didn't have to alter the computer record in any way. 'Sides, my QA said it was okay, wasn't worth the $ they pay me to search any more.

Sold more Guide biscuits, had the second bathroom contractor come and explain his quote (double the first quote, *sigh*) and am more exhausted than ever. What's with that?

On the plus side... Kat sent heaps of music last night *dances*, watched "Best in Show" last night too (gotta love those mockumentaries, and the ever-wonderful Parker Posey), and I get to sleep in tomorrow.
