If you friend me, please comment if you'd like to be friended in return, as my standard practice is to only friend people I've exchanged a comment conversation of some sort with. If you're happy to friend and see very few of my posts, go for it, but I won't be friending you back unless we've chatted!

I don't actually bite, nor am I as standoffish as it might appear, but I'm probably a sandwich short of a picnic, in case this affects your interest in my journal. I also have the world's worst memory, but I always reply to comments if it seems called for. Feel free to poke around what little is visible.

Oh, and all my fics are housed at [livejournal.com profile] haldoor_honey because that's the way I roll. They are open to the public for the most part. Feedback and followers there are always welcome. I don't usually friend back there, but that's only because I don't follow the flist attached to it. ;-)

OMG! YAY!

*blows trumpets*

It's seven years today since I opened my LJ account! Wow, where did seven years go? I'd like to thank my fans... no, seriously, thank you Lost for helping me find slash, thanks [livejournal.com profile] niceandfluffy for introducing me to LJ, and thank you to all my flist and the friends I've made here for making it seven years of SO MUCH FUN!!! *group hug*

Enjoy your Memorial Day holiday, all my American friends. As it happens, it's 70 years this year since American troops arrived in NZ to help with the war effort.

I think. Hmm. I seem to have rec'd two months extra paid time, and I can't see that there's a free giveaway unless it was something LJ was doing a while back and they've only just got to me? *scratches head* MOAG bites. Anyway, if it was one of you guys, thank you. I really appreciate it, because it's not easy to justify having the paid account when I should be saving every penny to help pay for house extensions AND a trip to Hawaii in four years time.

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] crickets, whose journal I apparently didn't comment on (unless it was below 3 that is!)

Who comments the most on this journal? )

For those wanting to know more about the recent DDoS attacks, yes, it looks like it was the Russian government trying to shut down the dissidents again.

As I said last time, while it's frustrating not to have access, LJ is a lot more than a social network platform. From the article:

"LiveJournal isn’t just a social network. It’s also a platform for organizing civic action. Dozens of network projects and groups mobilize people to solve specific problems — from defending the rights of political prisoners to saving endangered historic architecture in Moscow."

So while I know many are considering the move over to Dreamwidth and other such sites, supporting LJ is a way we can help support those who use it for more than a writing/roleplaying/social venue.

Also, as a FYI, LJ is giving paid users effected by the outage two weeks of paid time as compensation.

As compared to Five Long Years, eh Colin?

I've just passed my six year anniversary of having a LiveJournal account! Go, me! ;-) It's been the best fun; thank you flist for making it so.

I know I was going to start this years ago, but it never quite happened! It's not anything major and I really have no time for it, but I'm going to give a go at doing short reviews whenever I can. Naturally, it's swayed towards gay/slash, but other things are welcome too. I'm happy to have members who want to review stuff too, so go for it if you feel so inclined! All welcome, as long as we don't have fights starting over opinions. Opinions are exactly that: what you thought of it! Discussions welcome, but no wankery or flaming will be tolerated.

First review is up here: The Vintner's Luck. It's short, it's sweet and it's open for viewing!

Stupid LJ. Here's me trying to madly catch up before I go to bed and NONE of the best pics are coming up, dammit. So I'm missing all the pretties. Dammit.

Did I say? DAMMIT

But It's too f'ing late and I'm going to bed. Will have to relook tomorrow, that's all there is to it. MUST... HAVE... PRETTIES (is feeling hormonal).

Alright, that's enough.

I was gonna talk about this week and busy-ness, and whales beaching and so on, but I've just spent 4 hours catching up with my flist and now it's midnight and I really really must sleep. So. Next time, huh? Did tons of comments, and most are probably pointless, but hey, I'm like that (pointless, despite being an HB *laughs weirdly cos no-one will get that*)

All right, don't wait up. None of it matters. Although, come to think of it, I NEED more Warren Zevon (ref #2 below) and Jimmy Buffett (ref#1 below) in my life. In fact, I should get them on CD, right? Gotta love their seriously interesting and sometimes weird lyrics, right? If you agree, shout!

1. "He went to Paris, looking for answers to questions that bothered him so..."

2. "I'd like to go back to Paris someday and visit the Louvre Museum
Get a good running start and hurl myself at the wall"

Yes'm, Paris. Don't ask why, maybe it's the Tiger View I'm doing. Never been there, but maybe one day. But it probably "ain't that pretty at all".

Okay, if you understand any of that, you also are having a moment, obviously. It's after midnight now, what did you expect from me, really? Something that made sense? *laughs hysterically* (and it's Friday 13th... okay, so technically it's actually Sat 14th. But check out what's in the background! HA! Kevin Bacon bites it, royally!)

I had hoped to do six million things before dinner... and it just didn't work. RL seems to have completely eaten my brain right now, and I've been SO GOOD at work (well, mostly) and actually been working, so LJ has suffered. Just about keeping up with EN RPG, but e-mail and LJ... *sigh*
