haldoor: Kaige and I like to jump off bridges one after the other; not always in the same order (1_mill_words-H50-steve)
And tomorrow we're off to pick up the kids from their visit to the rellies. We'll stay overnight and be home Sunday. So catching up with flist will have to wait until Monday, when I am on HOLIDAY FOR TWO WEEKS, woohoo! I'm so pleased to be having some decent time off after having worked through Christmas and New Year (in between the stat days, that is) when everyone else was taking their leave. ;-)

And Hubby's well on the way to recovery - he's walking without the moon boot when he can, and tonight I took him out to buy some sturdy summer sandals so he has no excuse to be wandering around in jandals any more.

And I made these )

Oh, and I still haven't figured out the CSS to get my banner back in my header, so if anyone's an expert out there... please help!

Today I got a lovely anonymous gift on my info page! Thank you to whoever sent me the sunflower! It really brightened my day. *hugs you*

Other than that, I have a bit of a headache so I'm not thinking straight (the slasher in me is tempted to say 'when are you ever?'), so apologies if any of the comments I've just caught up on are not as coherent as they might be.

Still not writing...

This morning's 7.1 scale earthquake in Christchurch is a long way from where I live and we are not affected.

Thankfully, no one has been killed, although there are a number of injuries. Apparently water and power are the main concerns for the residents there, and they hope to have power restored to places where it's out by 6pm tonight. Water may be a different issue and people are being urged to conserve it where they can. For the rest of things, there is a lot of structural damage in Christchurch and surrounding places (the quake was felt as far away as Invercargill in the south and Taranaki in the north), but the agencies who deal with such things appear to have most issues under control. It's very lucky that Christchurch doesn't have a lot of tall buildings, although there are certainly a lot of historic places that I hope haven't sustained too much damage.

My family's thoughts and wishes go out to anyone who's been affected by this, and we will certainly be offering any help that we can.

Okay, I need to do this. It’s a quick (cue hysterical laughter) rundown of LAST week, which seemed to run by at the speed of knots! It needs recording, for me if no-one else, so don’t go under the cut unless you’re really keen!

Where does all the money go? )

Nearly missed Chapters 4 and 5 of In the Shadow of the Eagle - what was I thinking!?! I haven't been in LJ for days, too busy wrapping up the Austria thread in EN RPG every time I've been in lately. So finally checked both Chapters out today when I realised they were there, thank God!

Otherwise, not much else of note. We have just moved offices at work, so Monday I MUST remember to go to the new one, not the old one. Packed up yesterday (Fri) and it will all be there at the new place on Monday. I'm in two minds about it, actually. Has good and bad going for it. Good being new place, bigger, we have our own kitchen and loos (had to share with another bunch of people just as big as our group at the old place, and that always had a "them/us" feel about who messed up most). Bad being the parking's not as good, it's 5mins further away from home (neither here nor there I suppose), and the seating for us office-bound staff is crappily arranged. So, it remains to be seen whether it will be better or not.

I have a headache right now, have had all afternoon. Really should take something, as every little noise is bugging me. And I have to say "Don't Phunk With My Heart" is REALLY REALLY not the song you wish your 9yo would play when your head's near exploding *sticks out tongue*. I only haven't said something because I really don't have the energy, and it's keeping them off my back. But, it's time for bed now (for both N1D and N2D) so I'm about to push...

...as "Hidalgo" is on Sky in 10 mins, and I really must watch it...

Okay, that's my little rave for now. Off to ogle Viggo!
